Frequently Asked Questions
How long will it take to get a new website?
I know you want you to get your website done quickly. If you are responsive on your end, working with me to decide on the layout and content for your website and suggesting changes once I give you the draft, your website can be completely done in 1-2 weeks. I would like to have your website complete within 30 days at the most.
What if I don't know what I want on my website?
It can be difficult to figure out how you want your website to look so I have created a process that will walk you through it. Between conversations with me and a form I'll have you fill out, you'll be able to get a great website. Your content doesn't need to be perfect. You'll be able to make changes yourself once it's done.
What if I want to make changes to my website later?
Included in the price of the website package is a one-hour Zoom where I'll teach you to make simple changes to your website. If you don't want to make your own changes or have structural changes that you don't know how to make, I can make them for you at my hourly rate.
What if I don't like my website when you're done with it?
My work is guaranteed. If I create your website and you don't like it and we're unable to get it just how you want it, I'll happily give you your money back (within 14 days of delivery). (This has never happened!)
What type of pictures will go on my website?
I will teach you how to find stock photos online that will match the style of your website, or maybe you'll have a photographer take photos of you. I can also look for free images for you to use.
How will people find my website?
Basic SEO (search engine optimization) is included in the website package price and this will help you be found online. That said, I'm not an SEO expert (YET!) but there are SEO experts you can hire online if this is an important part of your business model. If you will get the most traffic to your website through social media channels, I'll teach you how to optimize your profile so you'll get traffic from those platforms.
Are there any hidden costs?
The price you pay me is for the design and development of your website only. It's a one time charge. In addition to that cost, you'll also have to pay Weebly to host your website (from free to $25 per month) and you'll have to pay for a domain (GoDaddy, Weebly, etc.). In addition, some apps that you use with your website, like Calendly or MailChimp, might have additional charges.
What if I'm not techy?
I use a drag-and-drop website builder called Weebly. I think it is the easiest of the website platforms out there (though I've not tried all of them). If you need to change the text or images on your website, you'll find it is no harder than using Microsoft Word. If you need bigger changes, you can always get help from me.
What special features can I have on my website?
Your website can have a blog page, embedded YouTube videos, contact forms, a Google map, files that can be downloaded, newsletter signups, social icons (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), and more. You can also have buttons and links that take you to other pages on your website or on the web.
Can I sell products or have a store page on my website?
Absolutely! Weebly was recently bought out by Square, so if you already use Square for your business, it's super easy to get an online store. (PayPal works also.) What I've done for a couple customers is I set up their store, then they add their own products.
Who owns my website when you are done?
You do!! When I create your website, I'll start by signing you up for your own Weebly account (or whatever platform you want to use). Then I'll add myself as an editor or contributor to your site.
What else will I have to pay?
With every website, regardless of who builds it and what program it is built with, there are three costs to consider:
The website for your business is one of the most important investments you'll make. Make it a good one!
- Website design costs: This is what Ready Set Go Website Design charges for. It's a one-time fee to create an awesome website for your business. Unless you do it yourself, you'll have to pay a website designer.
- Domain hosting: Your domain is the address (the URL) you type in the address bar to get to your website. Many people pay a company like GoDaddy to host their website. Weebly will also host your domain for about $20 per year (plus you should spend the extra $10 a year for privacy, but you don't have to). If you keep Weebly in your domain name, such as glendarobinson.weebly.com, then Weebly won't charge you for your domain. A free domain doesn't get as good of results in Google searches, but I can help you with ways to market your business without that.
- Website hosting: Your actual website, the code, graphics, and other data, are stored somewhere. When your website is created in Weebly, they are the website host. Weebly has a free plan (for those who keep Weebly in the domain name), the inexpensive Connect plan ($60 per year to have a domain without Weebly in the name, but you'll still have Weebly branding), and the much better Pro plan ($144 per year with no Weebly branding, your own Favicon - the image in the tab in your browser, HD videos, a custom footer, and more. By far the best plan in my opinion and what I use.) Stores cost the most, at $300 per year, though you can sell just a couple of products with the Pro plan.
