Why Weebly?

One thing that happens all the time is that you think you know exactly what you want on your website and you have it created (and with lots of designers, that's really expensive!) but then as your business takes off, you start to question your business plan or you narrow down your niche (ideal customer).

As your focus changes, you need your website to change, too. It's not that you need big, structural changes or even changes to the design. You just need to change the wording so that it better reflects your business model or switch out images so they appeal to your ideal customer.

The problem is that most websites out on the web are created in WordPress. And WordPress is not user-friendly, especially for people that aren't tech-savvy.

I use Weebly. Weebly is a program that's been around since 2006. It was recently purchased by Square, the payment processor that so many small businesses use. This website was created in Weebly as have been almost all of the websites I've created for clients.

Once we have your new website up and running, I'll show you how you can make simple updates to your website. This training has been so valuable to my clients because now they aren't beholden to the web designer every time they want to make a simple change.

What is SEO?

Basic SEO (search engine optimization) is included in the website package price and this will help you be found online.

The best way to improve the likelyhood of Google suggesting your website to potential customers is to create a website that functions well and thoroughly explains what you do. Remember, people come to Google to look for answers. The more your website answers those questions, the more often Google will suggest it.

That said, I'm not an SEO expert but there are SEO experts you can hire online if this is an important part of your business model. Warning: they are expensive!

I've never hired an SEO expert and yet I get calls from people that have found my website through Google search. It can be done!

If you plan to get the most traffic to your website through social media channels, I'll teach you how to optimize your profile so you'll get more traffic from those platforms.

Are there any hidden costs?

The price you pay me is for the design and development of your website only. It's a one time charge.

In addition to that cost, you'll also have to pay Weebly to host your website (from free to $25 per month) and you'll have to pay for a domain (GoDaddy, Weebly, etc.).

In addition, some apps that you use with your website, like Calendly or MailChimp, might have additional charges.

From my end though, you only pay me to create your website. I don't have a monthly maintenance or hosting charge.

Frequently Asked Questions

How long will it take to get a new website?

I know you want you to get your website done quickly. If you are responsive on your end, working with me to decide on the layout and content for your website and suggesting changes once I give you the draft, your website can be completely done in 1-2 weeks. I would like to have your website complete within 30 days at the most.

What if I don't know what I want on my website?

It can be difficult to figure out how you want your website to look so I have created a process that will walk you through it. Between conversations with me and a form I'll have you fill out, you'll be able to get a great website. Your content doesn't need to be perfect. You'll be able to make changes yourself once it's done. I highly recommend hiring a copywriter if you have the budget for it.

What if I want to make changes to my website later?

Included in the price of the website package is a one-hour Zoom where I'll teach you to make simple changes to your website. If you don't want to make your own changes or have structural changes that you don't know how to make, I can make them for you at my hourly rate.

What if I don't like my website when you're done with it?

My work is guaranteed. If I create your website and you don't like it and we're unable to get it just how you want it, I'll happily give you your money back (within 14 days of delivery). (This has never happened!)

What type of pictures will go on my website?

Images set the tone of your website and are a very important part of the overall design. I will teach you how to find stock photos online that will match the style of your website, or maybe you'll have a photographer take photos of you. I can also look for free images for you to use.

How will people find my website?

Basic SEO (search engine optimization) is included in the website package price and this will help you be found online. That said, I'm not an SEO expert but there are SEO experts you can hire online if this is an important part of your business model. If you will get the most traffic to your website through social media channels, I'll teach you how to optimize your profile so you'll get traffic from those platforms.

What if I'm not techy?

I use a drag-and-drop website builder called Weebly. I think it is the easiest of the website platforms out there. If you need to change the text or images on your website, you'll find it is no harder than using Microsoft Word. If you need bigger changes, you can always get help from me.

What special features can I have on my website?

Your website can have a blog page, embedded YouTube videos, contact forms, a Google map, files that can be downloaded, newsletter signups, social icons (Facebook, Instagram, etc.), and more. You can also have buttons and links that take you to other pages on your website or on the web.

Can I sell products or have a store page on my website?

Absolutely! Weebly was recently bought out by Square, so if you already use Square for your business, it's super easy to get an online store. (PayPal works also.) What I've done for a couple customers is I set up their store, then they add their own products.

Who owns my website when you are done?

You do!! When I create your website, I'll start by signing you up for your own Weebly account, then I'll add myself as an editor or contributor to your site.
