It is essential that every business, no matter how small, has a website, but a poorly designed website can do more harm than good. There’s a lot that goes into creating a great website, but I’ve limited myself here to the top 3 things that your website needs to make it stand out from your competitors.
Every business, no matter how small, should have a mobile-responsive website.
Have you ever walked down a New York City street and seen the number of people using their phone while walking? (Don't do it. It's a good way to get run over.)
Or how about the last time you went to Starbucks? Did you notice how many people were looking at their phones as they drank their Cocoa Cloud Macchiato?
The truth is....people use their phones a lot and one of the things those people are doing are looking at websites. These potential customers are asking questions like:
If you have a business, then you solve people's problems one way or another. And when people are searching for an answer to their problem, you don't want to lead them to a website that looks terrible on a phone, because if you do, they'll leave.
Here are three reasons why your small business needs to have a mobile-responsive website:
What has God gifted you to do? It probably isn’t to build websites. So what is your gift? Leave me a comment and tell me. Seriously. I want to know.
I believe God has gifted me with the passion, skill, and desire to create websites. I love to create them! It gets all my creative juices flowing.
Yet assuming that God has gifted you differently than me and that you’ve most likely created a business around your gift, you’re probably here because you know you need a website to share your gift with the world.
May I please help you? I’d love to combine our gifts in a way that helps you share your gift.
Hear me on this...You do not need to learn to create a website.
There are better uses of your time.
Yet your business does need a website.
Let me help. I promise to make it easy for you.
Let’s schedule a call this week to discuss your business and figure out the best way for you to share your gift with the world.
And don't forget to share your gift in the comments!
Title Tags are the MOST important SEO feature on your site!
Weebly has done a great job of making it easy for small business owners to create an SEO friendly website that Google will love. You just need to know what information goes where. This guide will show you exactly how to set up one important part of that: how to update the Title Tag in Weebly.
The Title Tag is one of the meta tags. It is the text that shows up on the Google search page in blue (though since I've clicked on my link before, it's showing up as purple). Mine currently says Ready Set Go Website Design.
That's not ideal though.
It's better to have keywords in your Title Tag, for every page on your website.
It doesn't help me to have the name of my business as my Title Tag unless someone is specifically searching for my business. What's better is to have keywords in that Title Tag.
Weebly makes it very easy to update your Title Tag. But first, a few things to know about Google.
